NanaCast Exporter — How to export
NanaCast Exporter is a Unity package that exports avatars, stages, props and motions for the NanaCast viewer. It never calls the VRChat SDK, and no VRChat SDK assets go into the exported files.
1. Requirements
•Unity 2022.3 (2022.3.22f1 recommended)
•A Built-in render pipeline project (URP and HDRP are not supported)
•For avatars: a VRChat avatar project with the VRChat SDK installed (with Modular Avatar / NDMF / VRCFury, the avatar goes through the same build as an upload before exporting)
•For stages, props and motions only: any Unity project will do
2. Installing
In VCC (VRChat Creator Companion) or ALCOM:
1)Settings → Packages → Add Repository
2)Enter: https://nanacast.app/vpm/index.json
3)In Manage Project, add "NanaCast Exporter" (NanaCast Runtime is installed with it).
When a new version comes out, update it in VCC.
After installing, the Unity menu has:
•Tools → NanaCast → Avatar Exporter (avatars are exported from a VRChat avatar project with the SDK)
•Tools → NanaCast → Content Exporter (stages, props, motions)
Both windows show a language picker at the top right (한국어 / 日本語 / English / 简体中文 / 繁體中文).
3. Exporting an avatar
1)Open the scene with the avatar.
2)Open Tools → NanaCast → Avatar Exporter.
3)Put the avatar (the root object with the VRC Avatar Descriptor) in the "Avatar" field. If the avatar is selected when you open the window, it is filled in automatically.
4)Press "Export". It takes 1–3 minutes depending on the avatar.
5)The folder with the .ncavatar file opens. Default location: Documents\NanaCast\Avatars
6)In the viewer, pick it from the avatar page's list.
•Your avatar and project assets are not modified (the exporter works on a copy).
•PhysBones, constraints, contacts, the Expressions menu and parameters, and the animators are included.
•VRChat's default animations (standing, hand gestures, etc.) are replaced with NanaCast's own.
•Check any warnings at the bottom of the window. "VRChat SDK assets included: 0" means all is well.
Note: the .ncavatar file contains the original avatar model. Do not give it to anyone else. Check each creator's terms on whether their avatar and outfits may be used outside VRChat.
4. Exporting a stage (.ncstage)
1)Open the scene to use as a stage. Bake lightmaps first if you use them.
2)Make an empty object where the avatar should stand and add the NcStage component. Its position and Y rotation (facing) become the avatar's spot. Without it, the avatar stands at (0,0,0).
3)Save the scene.
4)Tools → NanaCast → Content Exporter → "Stage" tab → put in the scene → "Export stage".
5)Default location: Documents\NanaCast\Stages
6)In the viewer, choose "Stage" as the background type on the staging page's background tab.
•Lightmaps, skybox, lights, reflection probes, particles and animations are included.
•Custom scripts (C#) don't run in the viewer; only their visuals remain.
•Scene post-processing (Post Processing Stack, etc.) is not carried over. Use the viewer's post-processing.
5. Exporting a prop (.ncprop)
1)Prepare a prefab (or scene object).
2)For props attached to the avatar, add NcProp to the root and set the bone (hand, head, ...) and position, rotation and scale. Set the bone to "LastBone" (none) for a prop fixed in the world.
3)Content Exporter → "Prop" tab → put in the prefab → "Export prop".
4)Default location: Documents\NanaCast\Props. Turn props on and off on the viewer's props page.
•PNG and JPG images put straight into the Props folder work as flat card props.
6. Exporting a motion (.ncmotion)
1)Prepare a humanoid animation clip.
2)Content Exporter → "Motion" tab → put in the clip, choose looping and whether it replaces body tracking while playing → "Export motion".
3)Default location: Documents\NanaCast\Motions. Play it from the viewer's props page.
7. Changing the content folder
To use another folder instead of Documents, write the folder path on one line in %APPDATA%\NanaCast\content-root.txt (e.g. D:\NanaCast). The viewer and the exporter share it.
8. Troubleshooting
•Check the log and warnings at the bottom of the export window and errors in the Unity console.
